Last year the United Nations declared October 11th the International Day of the Girl Child. Today marks the first International Day of the Girl Child, the theme for this year is Ending Child Marriage. Let's continue to remember the unique challenges girls face around the world and celebrate achievements made in girls' rights.
Skateistan, “a kabul-based non-governmental organization," uses skateboarding and education to empower girls in Afghanistan, Cambodia and Pakistan. Forty percent of the students benefiting from Skateistan are girls age 5-18.
